New revisions have been made to The Joint Commission (TJC) “Environment of Care” (EC) and the Emergency Management (EM) Chapters which will become effective July 1, 2022. Changes to the EC Chapter include new and revised elements of performance for accredited organizations related to the National Fire Protection Associate Code (NFPA). The Emergency Management Chapter for Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals has also undergone a significant rewrite. Existing requirements have been revised, consolidated, and expanded using a new numbering system. For more information read New and Revised Emergency Management Standards.
