On the Radar: Pediatric Surveyor Coming Your Way?

Potential for additional surveyor:

General hospitals that provide pediatric inpatient services will have a pediatric surveyor that will be dedicated to surveying areas that provide services to women and children when the hospital meets 2 of the below 3 criteria:

  1. The hospital has a separate Pediatric Emergency Department serving only pediatric patients and staffed by Pediatric Practitioners
  2. The hospital has a Level 3 or Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  3. An average daily census of 6 or more patients

The Joint Commission published a reminder in their July issue of Joint Commission Online.

Does your organization meet the criteria?  If in doubt, contact your Joint Commission Account Representative for confirmation.
