Were You Aware? March 2015
Recent announcements from CMS and TJC are good news for healthcare organizations!
- On March 13, 2015, CMS issued a “temporary withdrawing” of its Survey and Certification Memo 15-11 related Blood Glucose Monitoring Systems. C&A addressed the original S&C memo in its January e-newsletter. In the current update, CMS notes that due to significant feedback from the hospital field, it is further reviewing, and seeking input on, its guidance on BGMS. Thus, State Agencies will not be enforcing the requirements of the original memo at this time. We will communicate updates as CMS provides them.
- The Joint Commission announced, in the March 2015 edition of The Joint Commission Perspectives, that The Accreditation Committee of its Board of Directors has delegated authority for rending decisions of Accreditation with Follow-up Survey to TJC leadership. This will be the responsibility of Dr. Ana Pujols McKeee, Chief Medical Officer at TJC. This should allow for a more expeditious processing of decisions for organizations.
