Kimothy M. Sparks, J.D., R.N.
Kimothy Sparks is an Associate Consultant with over 25 years of experience in healthcare quality, risk, and patient safety. He is responsible for assessing healthcare organizations’ readiness for licensing, accreditation, and regulatory compliance, and has assisted multiple organizations in achieving Joint Commission Accreditation. He brings a wealth of support for behavioral health, pediatrics, emergency services, inpatient and outpatient services. In addition, he has merged his law degree with his clinical background to enhance patient safety and proactive risk management in his practice.
Mr. Sparks has worked in a variety of healthcare settings and positions, and his experiences range from Pediatric Intensive Care and Emergency Services to Director of Quality and Risk. His behavioral health background has assisted organizations in the identification and reduction of ligature risks as well as causal analysis of serious safety events. He also worked with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for abduction prevention. He has assisted organizations in core measure and outcome management improvements, as well as Physician Peer Review. His expertise in numerous areas of healthcare has been successful in developing collaborative teams to achieve numerous organizational goals.
Sparks has achieved many certifications including EMT, ACLS, PALS, NRP, ENPC, TNCC, CPI, CPHRM, and others. He is a member of the National Association of Healthcare Quality, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and the International Association of Forensic Nurses. He received an Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Juris Doctorate from The Appalachian School of Law.
