EC/Physical Environment Implementation Essentials: Where the physical environment and patient safety meet

Physical environment hospital roomWhen healthcare staff are not aware of their roles and responsibilities in maintaining a safe environment, common safety issues may be overlooked placing themselves and patients at risk. The Environment of Care within a Hospital organization must be planned and managed based on the services that will be provided across the continuum of care. Once services are identified, management plans for the Environment of Care must be assessed for risk, plans developed, plans implemented and then activities monitored for ongoing safety.
