Martin Piepoli

Martin J. Piepoli currently is an Associate Consultant with Courtemanche & Associates Healthcare Synergists. Martin provides ongoing support to organizations for performance improvement, life safety code compliance and the Environment of Care, The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. He has served as faculty and speaker for Patient Safety, Patient Rights, Restraint, Human Resources, and other TJC Compliance issues. He has been trained in The Joint Commission’s Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals, Home Care, Ambulatory, and Behavioral Health. Most recently, Martin served as a contributing author of Simplifying Regulatory Compliance: A Crosswalk of CMS and TJC Requirements and SOAR (Score Ongoing Accreditation Readiness) To Success for Home Care.

Prior to joining Courtemanche & Associates, Martin served as a Survey Coordinator for successful accreditation campaigns related to The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, and state agencies. He has lead and served on TJC preparation teams for acute care hospitals with tertiary, home care, behavioral and ambulatory services. In addition, he has also served as Director of Patient Advocacy, Director of Social Service, and Clinical Social Worker and in other leadership and advocacy roles for healthcare and the community. In Martin’s most recent position as Director of Patient Advocacy and Social Work at Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals.

Piepoli received his Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Towson State University, Towson, Maryland and his Masters in Social Work and Community Planning from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. He served as the President for the Carolinas Chapter Society for Consumer Healthcare Advocacy 2006-2007 and is still an active member. He also serves as adjunct faculty for the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina and a member of ASHE.
