Life Safety Code Evaluation (Printer-Friendly PDF version)
Courtemanche & Associates (C&A) can conduct an evaluation with NFPA / ASHE trained consultants to meet all of your Life Safety Code needs. When you choose C&A for Life Safety Code Consultation, you will receive the most comprehensive evaluation in the field.
Life Safety Education (1 Day)
This educational program is designed to educate your staff on the NFPA Life Safety Code and its integration into The Joint Commission’s Survey process. It is intended to be interactive for your organizational staff, and will provide them with 8.0 contact hours for their continuing education needs.
Life Safety Code Building Tour (2 Days Minimum)
A comprehensive Life Safety Code building tour will be conducted to assess compliance with the NFPA Life Safety Code 2000 edition. Findings from this assessment will be utilized to prepare your organization’s electronic Statement of Conditions (e-SOC). A printed version of the Statement of Conditions will also be prepared for the organization.
Life Safety Specialist Document Review (1/2 Day)
Environment of Care documents will be reviewed to ensure compliance with the Life Safety Code priority focus areas, as evaluated by current TJC Life Safety Code Specialists. These focus areas include: Life Safety Code Compliance, Fire-safety equipment and building features, Interim Life Safety Measures, Emergency Power Systems, and Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems.
Building Maintenance Program Evaluation (1/2 Day)
The organization’s approach to managing Life Safety compliance will be evaluated to determine the appropriateness of a proactive Building Maintenance Program (BMP) approach. Courtemanche & Associates will assess current organizational resources and make appropriate recommendations for the promotion of this proactive approach.

Proactive Risk Assessments
Remaining as one of the top challenging areas for accredited organizations for the past few years, the Environment of Care standard associated with proactive risk assessments, EC.1.10, has increased in importance. C&A consultants have been trained in the National Incident Management System (NIMS), as well as other systems, and is able to assist your organization with managing potential disaster situations.
Environment of Care Management Plans
C&A is able to provide assistance with the development of Environment of Care Management Plans, which includes: Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Management, Life Safety, Medical Equipment, and Utilities. Not only will we assist you with the development of these plans, but will also provide guidance on key policies and procedures which support the effectiveness of these management plans.
Environment of Care Document Review
Environment of Care documents will be reviewed and assessed for compliance with The Joint Commission’s entire Environment of Care chapter, as well as applicable standards in the areas of Infection Control, Leadership, Performance Improvement, Human Resources, and Medical Staff. In preparation for your next The Joint Commission (TJC) survey, C&A will provide assistance with the organization and packaging of all of the required information, such as:
